2009 Spring Registration Procedures for Teams

From: Wendy Amick, SCYSL Registrar

The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League is made up of players and teams who are members of the Santa Clara Youth Soccer League – our home league or league of registration.  In addition to registering your team with SCYSL for the Spring, you will need to register your team for the District II Spring Playing League.

CYSA District II Spring League Information

It is important to understand that DII Spring League allows teams to play on paper rosters.  This means that you can register any group of players for your DII Spring League team, as long as those players are formally registered with CYSA North (or are registering now as part of your spring registration), and as long as the players meet the age/gender requirements for your team.  It does not matter whether the players were registered for a division 1, division 3 or division 4 team in the Fall, or whether they were registered for a team in another league.   Registering the player through the DII Spring League’s on-line registration for your team means that the player can play DII Spring League games with your team.  All other non DII Spring League games (eg tournaments) require your formal CYSA North goldenrod, CYSA North standard add/transfer/release procedures and rules, etc.

The DII Spring League website will be used for Spring 2009.  These instructions incorporate website changes as best as known.  If/when you run across errors with these instructions, please let me know so that it can be corrected/updated.   Instructions specific to DII Spring League registration are:

Registration for Playing League:  District II Spring League Registration can be accessed through the District II website http://cysadistrict2.gotsport.com/. The DII Spring League website provides detailed information on the process for spring registration of paper teams for DII Spring League.  You will need a login for the website unless you managed a team that played Delgado in the Fall  (in this case you should already have a login).  If you don’t have a login please follow the directions on the website

The D2 website will open for registration on February 15th and closes Monday, March 2nd

  • Additional paperwork due to SCYSL:
  • Two copies of your online registration.
  • Copy of player pass for any player coming from another league and not formally registered with your Fall 2008 team
  • Registration materials for any new players or adults

Fees for Spring are all payable to SCYSL, and must be submitted with your registration, by the deadline. Teams playing DII Spring League need to pay the following three fees:

DII Spring League Team Fee – $250 per team

Player Fees:

  • $25 per player already registered with CYSA for the 2008-09 season OR
  • $35 per player who is registering with CYSA for the first time this seasonal year (covers CYSA insurance, field fund fees).
  • Field Use Fees:
  • $25 for residents of Santa ClaraOR
  • $45 for non-residents of Santa Clara

Deadline for paperwork and fees to SCYSL  is March 2, 2009.  Your online application will not be accepted by DII Spring League unless you have turned in all the required paperwork and payment to your Home League Registrar and the Registrar confirms and communicates the validity of your team registration back to the DII Spring League for acceptance into the Playing League.

Deadline for registering individual players new to CYSA this seasonal year is April 24, 2009.

Team Background Information:  The age group coordinators for DII Spring League need to seed over 400 teams every Spring.  As part of your on-line registration, please provide any information that might help ensure your team is placed in the appropriate grouping.

U9 and U10 age groups are not allowed to play up a year

  • Minimum/Maximum Number of Players:
    • Playing 8-a-side (U8/U9) – must register a minimum of 10 players and maximum of 13
    • Playing 11-a-side (U10 & older) – must register a minimum of 13 players and maximum of 26 with only 18 players eligible to play in any one game
  • PlayerPasses and Registration:  NEW POLICY FOR SPRING
  • Spring passes will be issued to ALL players. CYSA will be providing player passes printed on a light blue paper stock for use during the Spring season so that they are easily distinguishable from the Fall season player passes.
  • League Registrar will print the passes and rosters (also on blue paper) and return them to team. The team will glue the pictures and laminate the passes. Pictures – 1½ "x1½ ", on photo quality paper, no polaroids, no izone, no hats, no sunglasses, high resolution, etc. There is no League and/or District pass required on the passes.

New to CYSA (did not register during Fall 2008)

  • New Players - Must submit completed 1601 USYSA registration form along with copy of birth certificate.
  • New Adults - If you are a new coach, submit a full page Team Official Registration form (form 1628) along with a copy of your coaching license. You must also be approved by the SCYSL Board of Directors.

Guest Players:

  • D2 spring players may guest play on spring teams as long as they meet the following requirements:
  • The guest player must be from the same club (or league if the league does not have clubs) as the club/league of the team on which the player is guesting and must be registered for the spring season.
  • The first 6 digits of the team id identify the league/club. These first 6 digits must be the same.
  • The guest player must be of the same age group or younger as the team on which the player is guesting.

If you plan to play official tournaments using CYSA paperwork before completing your 2009-10 registration, you must officially register players new to your team via the standard player add or transfer process.  Using the “paper” registration process for DII Spring League will not put new players on your “goldenrod” and will not allow these players to participate in tournaments with you.  You are still limited to three transfers onto your official roster (“goldenrod”) during the 2008-09 seasonal year.  As with players, if you plan to play official tournaments before completing your 2009-10 registration, adults new to the team must be added per the standard adult registration procedures

Updates and Reminders for All Teams

  • Forms and Game Cards:  When you need forms or game cards, send me an email noting what you need.  I will put the forms in the box with your name on them.  Unfortunately, when I leave a supply of forms in the box, the supply disappears within a couple days. I still try to keep it stocked but if you let me know I can make sure you have the forms you need. Please do not take forms left for someone else.

New Coaches and Managers:

  • Read the CYSA Team Manual.  You will find useful information there.
  • Find an experienced coach and/or manager who is willing to spend some time helping you understand how the league and district work, and who can answer questions for you as they come up.
