SCYSL is offering a Grade 8 referee course this summer. The class will meet at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park at 5409 Centennial Boulevard on the following dates:

How to Registrer for the Referee Course

1. Follow this link to register online
2. Bring a $25 check payable to "SCYSL" on the first day of instruction. The $25 referee license fee will be refunded by the league to referees who successfully complete all required training (the course and all requirements) AND work five(5) games for SCYSL in the subsequent Fall season. We especially encourage those who are under 18 years old to take the Mentor Training with one of your parents and to officiate some games with them.
3. Before you take the exam, you will also need to bring a separate check for each attendee for $40 payable to “CNRA”. This covers your annual registration with the USSF. Please bring it to the first class session. If you do not pass the exam at the end of the class, this check will be returned to you.

Some of the above information needs is required for your USSF registration and is kept confidential.

Attendance will be taken at all sessions. In addition to the 6 classes that are set aside for USSF Instructor presentations of the Laws of the Game, we have scheduled a field clinic on August 12. This session will focus on taking the theory from the class and applying it in the real world – out on the field. The goal of our new training format is to send new referees to their first league games as JOB READY as possible.

In addition, on August 25th-26th, there are two Jamboree training dates where you will officiate in Mentor-supervised scrimmage games prior to the start of the Fall Season. Dates will be announced, and this is part of the required training. Attendance at these additional sessions is mandatory for students wishing to officiate games for SCYSL, but students who do not intend to officiate with us do not have to attend the additional sessions. Because these sessions are required (for SCYSL referees), I must receive advance notice of any attendance scheduling conflicts as we have a firm policy of ’make-up’ sessions planned for such contingencies.
