The Santa Clara Sporting Club is proud to announce that the club raised $20,000 last October during their 2009 Goals-for-a-Cure Campaign. Special recognition goes out to the Santa Clara Sporting ’93 Girls White Team led by Jim Goularte and Cynthia Bates-Brown which raised $3,516 to fight breast cancer. Traci Aguilar, a breast cancer survivior is also a lightning rod in the team helping with endless hours of love and support. This year the team came-up with yet another innovative idea; a shaved ice machine they ran at many soccer games and tournaments.
Santa Clara Sporting Club launched Goals-for-a-Cure during the month of October 2008 to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer. In 2008, the club raised $26,537 for the cause. The funds raised were used to support women who need financial assistance to get a breast screen exam at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.
