SCYSL will be hosting a Grade 8 Referee Licensing Clinic on the following dates during July, 2009 (location TBD). The registration cost is $25 (payable by the first evening of class and refunded after you pass the test and referee five SCYSL games) in class fees, and $40 for USSF registration.
Annual SCYSL AGM Meeting - March 11th
The annual SCYSL AGM Meeting will be held on March 11th starting at 6:45pm at the Santa Clara Sporting Club at 282 Brokaw Road in Santa Clara. An adult representative (coach or manager, or appointed representative) from each registered SCYSL Team is invited to attend the meeting and vote for our 2009 SCYSL Board of Director Officers. In addition, the Board will review and vote on any proposed changes to the SCYSL Constitution and By-Laws. Download flyer.

The FC Gold Pride Soccer Team Celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Bowers Elementary School in Santa Clara.
FC Gold Pride, the Bay Area franchise of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) has partnered with the San Francisco 49ers and the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) to create a Community Caravan on Wednesday, February 4 to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports day and kick off an extended initiative to support women’s sports in the Bay Area and across the country.

Matt Taylor of the Santa Clara Sporting 91 Green Team just returned from Arizona with the Cal-North 92 Boys ODP Team after winning the 92 Boys Age Group at the US Youth Soccer Region IV ODP Regional Championships on Monday, January 20, 2009. Held in Phoenix, they earned the right to represent Region IV at the US Youth Soccer National ODP Championships to be held in March 20-22, 2009 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX.
With a combined roster of 92’s and 93’s, Cal North went undefeated scoring 10 goals while giving up only 3 with 3 shutouts. Read the complete article

2008 SCYSL Annual Referee Awards
Congratulations to all the referees at SCYSL for another great season. We had over 500 games this year, and less than twenty went with empty slots - so thanks to all the referees for stepping up and helping out. To celebrate, we will be having our traditional referees’ soccer game early this January. In addition, our league is making several awards at this year’s San Jose Soccer Referee Association Awards Night.

Santa Clara Sporting '95 Win 2009 Cal-North State Cup
Congratulations to the Santa Clara Sporting ’95 Boys for winning the 2009 Cal-North State Cup Championship in Morgan Hill on Sunday, February 15th. Sporting took the lead 1-0 during the first half of the game, but Diablo FC poured on the pressure in the second half while both teams were beginning to struggle in the freezing cold rain.
SCYSL Officers Re-elected at 2009 AGM Meeting
The SCYSL Executive Board Members were re-elected at the 2009 AGM Meeting on March 11th. The following people will serve a second term: Tino Silva as League President, Demitri Cacoyannis as Vice President, Gary Gratney as Treasurer, and Jim Lawrence as League Secretary. The Santa Clara Sporting '95 Boys Team finished the 2009 Region IV FarWest Regional Tournament as Finalists right behind West Coast FC. Going into the U13 Boys Championship Game, they had accumulated 32 Goals For and only 2 Goals Against; more goals than any team entering finals in all age groups.

Sporting'99 Girls Take 3rd Place
The Santa Clara Sporting ’99 Green Team (U9) won the Tracy Orange Bowl Tournament with a 4-1 victory over the Tracy FC Warrior Team on Monday, May 25th. The Sporting ’99 Team swept their bracket games on Saturday with a 4-0 win over the Livermore Vipers, and 7-0 over the Tracy FC Jrs. Congratulations to Coach Ahmed Adams and the entire Team. Santa Clara Sporting '93 Boys Win State Cup Championship
The Santa Clara Sporting ’93 Boys Team reclaimed the Cal-North State Cup title last Saturday with a 6-0 crushing defeat over the Cal-Odyssey Team. The team finished State Cup with 7 undefeated victories, 28 goals for, and only 1 against during the month long tournament.
SCYSL & UK International Summer Soccer Camps
July 6-10th and August 3rd-7th
The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League and UK International Soccer Camps have partnered to offer two camps this summer. These camps are available to boys and girls from ages 6-16. The first camp will run from July 6th through July 10th, and hosted at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park. The second camp will run from August 3rd through August 7th, and will be hosted at Curtis Field.
